Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Buckshaw Primary School and Nursery.

It is my privilege to welcome you to our wonderful school, a place where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish. At the heart of Buckshaw Primary School is a strong sense of community and belonging. We pride ourselves on our warm, family ethos, where children, staff and families work together to create a nurturing environment in which everyone feels safe, respected and included.

Our vision, Learning, Believing and Growing Together, lies at the heart of everything we do. We believe that children achieve their very best when they feel happy, supported and inspired to learn. We are committed to helping every child develop academically, socially and emotionally, enabling them to grow into confident, caring and successful individuals who are ready for the next stage of their education and beyond.

Our vision is underpinned by six key values that are woven throughout school life:

  • Independence - We are independent in learning and in life.
  • Courage - We show courage in the face of a challenge.
  • Respect - We show respect to everyone.
  • Kindness - We are always kind.
  • Responsibility - We are responsible in everything we do.
  • Determination - We show determination when things get tough.

These values guide our children in their learning, relationships and personal development, helping them to become positive and responsible members of society.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated, highly skilled and well-trained staff team who are passionate about providing the very best education and care for every child. Through high-quality teaching, a broad and ambitious curriculum, and strong pastoral support, we strive to ensure that all children achieve success and develop a lifelong love of learning.

One of the many things that makes Buckshaw special is our exceptional outdoor environment. Situated on the edge of the beautiful Astley Park, our school enjoys extensive grounds that provide children with rich opportunities to learn, explore and be active outdoors. We are particularly proud of our very own Forest School, where children can develop confidence, resilience and a deep appreciation of the natural world through meaningful outdoor experiences.

Outdoor play is also a key part of life at Buckshaw. Through our commitment to the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) approach, we recognise the important role that play has in supporting children's wellbeing, creativity, problem-solving skills and social development. Our outdoor spaces are designed to encourage imaginative, adventurous and collaborative play, ensuring that every child can enjoy high-quality play experiences every day.

Buckshaw Primary School and Nursery is a place where children feel they belong, are encouraged to be themselves, and are supported to reach their full potential. We are proud of the strong relationships that exist across our school community and of the opportunities we provide for every child to shine.

Whether you are considering joining our school, are already part of our school family, or are simply visiting our website, I hope you gain a sense of what makes Buckshaw such a special place. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing in your child's learning journey.
