Nursery Class

Welcome to Buckshaw Primary School – Nursery Class

We put the children at the heart of our provision. Buckshaw Nursery Class seeks to provide a safe, enriching, and nurturing environment where all our children have every opportunity to thrive.

Buckshaw Primary is an all-inclusive Nursery and primary school offering Before and After school care provision throughout the school year for children aged 2 to 11 years of age (before and after school club is for children 3 years and older). We are situated in the middle of Astley Village community.

We have wonderfully large grounds, which provides a wealth of cross curricular learning through outdoor environments. Our location is easily accessible from all network links, transport, and public transport, making it a perfect option for commuters. We promote walking to Nursery and our local community provides an abundance of walkways and delightful sights to see on the way.

A message from the class teacher.

As a qualified teacher, with other professional Early Years qualifications in childcare and over 10 years of experience working with children of all ages, I lead the nursery and staff team to ensure we provide a welcoming, secure, and nurturing family environment.

We want our families to feel that they are part of our community at Buckshaw Primary Nursery and that they can feel at ease and confident knowing that their children are being cared for by a kind and dedicated staff in a loving environment.

Our Outdoor Adventures
At Buckshaw Primary we embrace both the indoor and outdoor environment. We provide the children with a secure space with an extension of the classroom into the great outdoors to explore with age-appropriate activities daily. The children love to explore our environment which offers a variety of experiences including a mud kitchen, water and sand play, gardening and so many more fabulous opportunities. We also promote the importance of caring and helping our natural world, ‘We nurture our nature’.

Not only to do have a fantastic outdoor play area and school grounds, we also enjoy taking the children on regular walks out into our community and local area. Astley Park is a stone’s throw away from school and offers wealth of amazing learning opportunities for the children to experience.

We believe that bad weather should not stop our learning ang growing, only inappropriate clothing. We ask that parents provide their children with the appropriate clothing depending on the season.

Our Learning at Buckshaw Primary Nursery
Throughout the year we plan to cover a variety topics. However, we focus on following children’s interests, therefore it is possible that our topics will change to reflect the interests of the children.
EYFS Framework

The Areas of Learning and Development:

There are seven areas of learning and development that shape our educational programme.

All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected.

Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive.

The three prime areas are:

Personal, Social and Emotional

Physical Development

Communication and Language

Development Children are also supported in four other specific areas:

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the World

Expressive Arts and Design

Buckshaw Nursery Class provides a wide variety of individual activities and experiences for your children around the seven areas of learning and development.
