Now retired, Nigel began as a Regional Finance Trainee with the North West Regional Health Authority in September 1973. His various placements across the North West included, Blackpool, Wigan, Central Manchester and Lancaster as well as various visits to the Regional Headquarters in Manchester.

On completion of training, Nigel took up a position within the Lancashire Area Health Authority in Preston before joining the newly formed Chorley and South Ribble District Health Authority in 1982. Reaching the position of Assistant Treasurer, Nigel decided to leave the NHS and pursue a career in general management and move into the voluntary sector as Director of Administration with an organisation, (Brothers of Charity Services), providing supports to people with learning difficulties.

In 1998, Nigel moved within the same organisation to Liverpool to become it’s Regional Director of Services. Again this was providing the similar services in Liverpool, St Helens and Knowsley.

In 2009, Nigel became the organisation’s CEO for all its services in the North West which now encompassed not only Merseyside and Lancashire but also the Greater Manchester area.

Nigel retired in 2013 and now spends his leisure time travelling and trying to play golf as well as helping to look after his grandson.
