Term 1

The Loch Ness: Myth or Mythical truth?

We enjoyed our English unit this half-term, looking at the Loch Ness Monster and stories connected to it. We have created magazine articles about the myth and read a lovely story called 'Treasure of Loch Ness'. We have been inspired by stories of myths and creatures to produce some excellent work and developed our reading and writing skills along the way!

Ring, Ring!

Have you ever used a string telephone? We were so excited to build and use string phones in our Science work and discovered how sound travels closely through solid particles and so sound can then be louder over the same distance.

Rotten Romans! Or where they?

We took a trip back in time to the end of the Iron Age and explored the change Romans brought to Britain. From roads to aqueducts, we have a lot to thank the Romans for!

Grid Method Maths.

Year 4 means tricky maths and lots of brain power! We've been learning about grid method multiplication and how 363 x 5 can be as easy as pie! Here's a helpful video to learn with us! QUICKLY LEARN: Grid Method Multiplication 3 Digit By 1 Digit

Rumaysa: a twisted tale

In English, we are exploring the wonderful story of Rumaysa, a young Muslim girl who is trapped in a tower and forced to spin gold. We have been talking about fairytales and their features and having a go at re-writing the famous story.

Leaving on a jet plane!

We have been exploring the beautiful continent of Europe this half-term in Geography and thinking about its countries, capital cities and landmarks. We have been thinking about how culture changes from place to place and used this learning to compare some of the famous European hot spots!

*Number Two*

Have you ever wondered where our poo comes from? Year 4 loves (well most of them!) getting hands on and recreating the digestive system in an attempt to understand how food goes from our mouths to our toilets and how our body gets the good stuff in between! - check out our events and activities page to see some pictures of our learning!
